December 15, 2019:  Third Sunday of Advent

PRELUDE  In His Time

WELCOME

ADVENT SONG:  Now It’s Time to Light the Candle, v. 3

Now it’s time to light the candle,
In God’s name we will rejoice.
Bells and organ play together,
We will shout in one loud voice!

Light will overcome the darkness:
Sing the joy the Christ Child brings.

ADVENT CANDLE LIGHTING & THE LORD’S PRAYER

…Let us pray together:

Light of the World, we thank you for the joy you have brought to our lives.  We pray for joy in our lives and in the world.  We pray for joy that comes in seeing and anticipating your presence and work among us.  In the warmth of your Light, orient us toward the joy that you offer to us now and always.  We wait together by the light of this candle, praying…

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Come, thou long-expected Jesus.  Be with us as we continue our journey through Advent.  We confess to you our doubts, worries and fears that hold us back…

(Silence is kept)

Be with us as we prepare for the birthing of the Christ Child into this world.  We confess to you our failure to seek to follow him alone…

(Silence is kept)

Our hearts long for your blessing, and our world yearns for your presence.
Come to us now with forgiveness and rule in our lives forever.

Set us free from slavery to sin, and establish your reign in our lives.  Amen.
