I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.

O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.

My life is in you, Lord

My strength is in you, Lord

My hope is in you, Lord

In you, it's in You.

(repeat)

I will praise you with all of my life

I will praise you with all of my strength

With all of my life, with all of my strength

All of my hope is in you.

(Chorus)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Oh God, I want to be called a daughter and a son of God,

but I want to just keep the peace, not work for peace.

Oh God, I want to take part in the kingdom of heaven

but I want no part in being persecuted

for the sake of your justice and righteousness.

Oh God, I have said and thought all kinds of evil

when I have insulted your children and persecuted them because of me,

not loved them because of You.

Oh God, have mercy on me

and may the message on the mount be lived out in me.

HKUCC ANNIVERSARY RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP COVENANT

When people formally join Hawaii Kai UCC, they make a covenant with God and with the church.  This is an adapted version in which members renew their covenant.  Whenever we observe our anniversary, members are encouraged to reflect on what it means to be a member of Hawaii Kai UCC.

With thanksgiving for the gift of baptism

which made us one with the body of Christ,

we renew and celebrate our membership covenant

with the Hawaii Kai United Church of Christ.

We promise, by the grace of God,

to encourage one another on our common journey

to be Christ’s disciples and to grow in the Christian faith.

We promise to participate

in the life and mission of this church,

sharing regularly in the worship of God

and enlisting in the ministries of this church

as we serve the community and world.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.

DEDICATION OF TITHES & OFFERINGS                                                                                                                                Sue Sakai

Generous God, with thanksgiving

for the gift of shalom you have given to us,

we dedicate our offerings and our lives

to being peacemakers in our families, community and world.

Take all that we offer and use it

to build bridges of love among people,

making visible your reign here on earth.  Amen.
