WELCOME

CALL TO WORSHIP

Christ our Savior is risen from the dead!  Alleluia!
Break forth into joy!  Sing together!  God comforts those whose hearts are broken in sorrow.
We who once suffered in death, we who once cried in despair—
Now we know victory over death!
Now we know joy over despair!
For God has raised Christ from the grave!
The tomb is empty and death has been defeated for all the earth!
Let us worship God!

OPENING SONG

Lord I Lift Your Name On High
By Rick Founds

Lord I lift your name on high
Lord I love to sing your praises
I’m so glad you’re in my life
I’m so glad you came to save us

You came from heaven to earth to show the way
From the earth to the cross, our debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord I lift your name on high

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of life and death, we confess that sometimes we are not alive to the possibilities you offer.  In the midst of pain, unfairness, and fear, we find little reason to hope.  We feel despair or blame others, but we do not turn to you for help.  Forgive us and show us how to share the new life you offer, through Jesus Christ.  Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

DEDICATION OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS
God of glory, receive these gifts
and the offering of our lives.
As Jesus was lifted up from earth,
draw us to your heart
in the midst of this world,
that all creation may be brought
  from bondage to freedom,
  from darkness to light,
  and from death to life,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.

CLOSING SONG:

Because He Lives
By Gloria and William J. Gaither
©1971 Hanna Street Music.  Used by permission.
 CCLI #350601

Verse 1God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus,
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Chorus:  Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living
Just because He lives.

Verse 2:  How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He lives!
(Chorus)

Verse 3:  And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives.
 (Chorus)
