PRELUDE & CANDLE LIGHTING

WELCOME

*CALL TO WORSHIP

I will sing for the One I love a song about his vineyard.

We will sing praises to God, who has dug up and cleared the vineyard and planted it with the choicest vines.

Let us praise God, who carefully and tenderly nurtures us.

We will praise God, who has called us to be God’s people.

All:  Let us worship God!

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord God, you are the giver of life, nourisher, and nurturer.

You dream for us, yet all too often your words fall on the stony ground of our selfishness;

our good intentions wither in the glare of greed;

our labors are half-hearted and unproductive;

self-interest winds its way into our hearts.

Forgive us, Lord, for our poor yield in the face of your generosity.  Refresh us and replant within us a yearning for you and a hunger for your will to be done in the world.  May your justice grow and flourish through us.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.
